New Poland 2050 chair proposes personnel freeze amid internal conflict, comparing party tensions to Jaruzelski era.
New Chair Proposes Personnel Freeze
The new chairwoman of Poland 2050 has proposed adopting a “peace resolution” that would suspend personnel changes in the party and parliamentary club until the National Convention scheduled for March 21. The National Council will decide on the proposal at a meeting on February 14.
“Will Bring Peace to the Party”
According to TVN24, the chairwoman aims to calm ongoing factional conflicts. Despite the election of a new chair, tensions persist, with some MPs demanding the dismissal of parliamentary club head Paweł Śliz. The proposed moratorium would also bind the chairperson herself and create space for dialogue to unite party members.
“Suspension of Membership Rights”
The proposal has drawn sharp criticism from some politicians, who call it a suspension of party rights and club activities for nearly 40 days under “national unity” guise. One opponent mocked the initiative, saying “the decision smells of Jaruzelski.” Others argue it violates MP autonomy and limits internal democracy.
Chance to “Glue” the Party Together?
Supporters argue the moratorium is necessary to prevent conflict escalation and stabilize the party before the March convention. They warn that without this measure, Poland 2050 could face another public dispute phase, weakening its position in the ruling coalition and among voters.
