First Lady Marta Nawrocka on Saturday (February 14) gave an interview to a TVN24 journalist. During the conversation, she was asked about the behind-the-scenes of her work at the National Tax Administration (KAS), as well as the in vitro procedure and abortion law in Poland.

Let’s recall, Marta Nawrocka, before becoming First Lady, was an officer of the Customs and Tax Service. She dealt with combating illegal gambling, preventing the production and trade of tobacco and alcoholic beverages, as well as the control of the oil industry.

– I remember the 18 years very fondly. This was not work at a desk. It was unpredictable work, sometimes dangerous, in the field – she told Joanna Kryńska.

The First Lady emphasized that in her work she dealt with dangerous people. – I dealt with illegal gambling. These were forced entries into places where illegal games took place. There were different people there, under the influence of alcohol, drugs, aggressive. You never knew what to expect, but we had highly qualified officers – she stated.

– There were various situations, fortunately nothing happened to anyone. It was work at very high adrenaline levels – she added. The journalist asked Marta Nawrocka if she was forced to use a weapon. – Fortunately, there were no situations where I had to draw a weapon. There were other means of direct coercion, like handcuffs – she answered and added that she used a weapon only at the shooting range.

The First Lady emphasized that she has not been at the shooting range for a year. – But I think I’ll go back to it, because I really liked spending time there – she added.

In vitro? Nawrocka: I wouldn’t restrict it

Joanna Kryńska asked for her opinion on in vitro. – I would not restrict it, if someone cannot have children. I am not in such a situation. I am a happy mother of three children. I got pregnant naturally, gave birth to healthy children and did not face this problem, and I would not restrict this right to another person – she announced.

– State support is important for you, for these families exactly – continued Joanna Kryńska. – Please ask a different set of questions – Marta Nawrocka replied.

Asked about abortion law in Poland

Asked about abortion law in Poland, Marta Nawrocka said she is “above all for life.” – My life story tells this, because as a young girl I got pregnant and stood before a choice. I had different things in my mind. Due to my faith and the support of my family that I had, I gave birth. Now I have a wonderful 23-year-old son and I don’t regret this decision for a minute – she pointed out.

– My decision is this: I gave birth and I am for life, and against abortion – added the First Lady. Marta Nawrocka, however, did not answer the journalist’s question whether she agrees with the legal order that allows abortion in two cases: threat to the mother’s life and pregnancy as a result of rape.
