Burning UPA Flag, Banners “Stop Immigrant Invasion” and Cry of the Counter-Protest “Warszawa Against Nationalism”

A pro-nationalist demonstration in Warsaw, organized by the Confederation of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland, sparked a counter-protest highlighting opposition to anti-immigrant rhetoric and extreme right-wing ideologies.

March Organized by the Confederation of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland

A “Stop Immigrant Invasion” march organized by the Confederation of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland took place in Warsaw on Sunday, August 24, 2025, starting around 5:00 PM near the monument of Wincenty Witos on Piwna Street and proceeding along Traktem Królewskim toward the Presidential Palace.

Anti-Immigrant and Anti-Ukrainian Slogans Chanted

March participants, including figures such as Grzegorz Braun, Janusz Korwin-Mikke, Włodzimierz Skalik, and Marcin Rola, chanted anti-immigrant and anti-Ukrainian slogans like “Poland a national state,” “Not for immigration, but for deportation,” and “Stop mass immigration,” alongside banners reading “Poles in Poland are the hosts.”

Controversial Incident During Marcin Rola’s Speech

During Marcin Rola’s speech, a controversial incident occurred when he displayed a black-and-red flag of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), describing its colors as “Nazi,” and asked the crowd what should be done with it. The crowd shouted “burn it,” and one participant later ignited the flag in a prepared container.

Counter-Protest Emerges Against Nationalist Rhetoric

A counter-protest emerged along the march route, with participants opposing nationalist and anti-immigrant slogans. Signs and chants read “Fascists out! Immigrants deserve to be seen,” “Nationalism is the real threat,” “Grzegorz Braun, Russian clown,” and “Poland for everyone.” Part of the counter-protest took place on Krakowskie Przedmieście, with left-leaning groups emphasizing solidarity with immigrants and positioning Warsaw as an anti-fascist city.

Police Report Demonstrations Proceeded Peacefully

Police stated that both demonstrations and counter-protests unfolded without incidents, maintaining public order throughout the event.
