A 47-year-old Polish man died following a police intervention in Palma de Mallorca after allegedly attacking officers during a domestic disturbance.
Disturbance at Mallorca Residence
Police were called to an address in Palma de Mallorca early on Thursday, February 19, at approximately 4:15 AM. Neighbors reported hearing screams and the sound of broken items coming from the apartment of a 47-year-old Polish man who was described as agitated and aggressive.
Children Flee to Neighbors
Three children, aged 3, 7, and 11, were present in the residence during the incident. According to reports, the children fled to a neighbor’s apartment seeking help, as their mother was in Germany at the time of the event.
Police Use Taser During Confrontation
When police officers arrived at the scene, they found the apartment had been damaged. The man remained in a state of agitation and aggression, allegedly “brutally attacking” the officers, who then used a taser on him. The man lost consciousness and suffered cardiac arrest.
Resuscitation Attempts Failed
Police officers attempted resuscitation for approximately one hour while waiting for medical emergency services to arrive. Despite these efforts, the man was pronounced dead. The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy, with authorities suspecting he may have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.
Investigation Launched
An investigation has been opened into the actions of the police officers during the intervention. The circumstances surrounding the man’s death and the police response are currently under examination by authorities.
