Man Charged With Double Murder After Confessing to Killing Grandparents

A 29-year-old man from Raciąża has been charged with double murder after confessing to killing his grandparents and calling emergency services.

The Confession and Arrest

A 29-year-old resident of Raciąża has been charged with double murder with particular cruelty after calling 112 and confessing to killing his grandparents on Wednesday evening. The court in Płońsk decided on a three-month detention – the man faces life imprisonment.

On Wednesday, February 18, around 22:40, the duty officer at the Płońsk District Police received a report through the Emergency Notification Center from a man who stated he had killed two people and requested urgent arrival of services. Immediately, a patrol from the local station was dispatched to a single-family home in Raciąża.

In front of the property, police found a 29-year-old man who turned out to be the reporting person. He was sober, calm, and did not resist arrest. Inside the building, police found the bodies of a 72-year-old woman and 86-year-old man, spouses. As established, they were the grandparents of the detained man. The 29-year-old was arrested and placed in police custody.

Investigation Details

At the scene in Raciąża, for many hours, detectives and criminal technicians worked. Police secured traces, performed inspections, and photographic documentation. All activities were carried out under the supervision of a prosecutor.

Legal Proceedings

On Friday, February 20, the suspect was brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Płońsk, where he heard charges of murdering two people with particular cruelty. The same afternoon, a detention hearing was held at the District Court in Płońsk. On the prosecutor’s request, the court applied a preventive measure of temporary detention for three months against the 29-year-old. For the alleged crimes, the man faces a penalty of up to life imprisonment.
