Major Thaw in Poland as IMGW Issues New Weather Alerts

Poland experiencing significant thaw with IMGW issuing warnings for potential flooding in several regions through Tuesday.

Temperature and Rainfall Forecast

On Sunday, February 22, the maximum temperature will be 1 degree Celsius in the northeast, about 5 degrees in the center, and 9 degrees in the west and south of the country.

Rainfall will occur in the west, with amounts of about 10 mm, and up to 15 mm in the Sudety Mountains. Snow melting combined with rain may lead to a local increase in water levels.

Second-Level Thaw Warnings in Silesian Voivodeship

IMGW has issued second-level thaw warnings for parts of the Silesian Voivodeship. They include the Żywiec, Cieszyn, Bielsko, and Bielsko-Biała districts.

The alerts will be valid from 11 AM on Sunday until 8 PM on Tuesday.

IMGW also issued first-level thaw warnings for parts of several voivodeships.

IMGW Hydrological Warnings

Meteorologists have also published first-level hydrological warnings. They were issued for river catchments in the northern part of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, as well as in the northeastern areas of the West Pomeranian and Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeships, and in the western part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.
