A 40-year-old cyclist died after colliding with a pedestrian on national road no. 94 near Grodkowice, Poland on Tuesday morning.
The Accident
The Police Headquarters in Wieliczka reported that the incident occurred on Tuesday, February 24, around 5:45 AM on national road no. 94 in the village of Grodkowice (Kłaj commune, Małopolskie voivodeship). A 40-year-old cyclist was riding from Wieliczka towards Bochnia when a 68-year-old pedestrian appeared on the road, walking on the roadside from the opposite direction. A short time later, a collision occurred.
Fatal Outcome
The cyclist fell onto the road and lost consciousness. People who stopped to help the 40-year-old and called an ambulance noticed the situation. He was given help initially by those who stopped, then by the ambulance crew. Unfortunately, the doctor declared the man dead, according to Paweł Tomasik, press spokesman for the Police Commander in Wieliczka.
Investigation Underway
The Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Wieliczka has launched an investigation into the man’s death. Police officers and criminal technicians were sent to the scene to conduct an inspection under the supervision of investigators. They are working to determine the circumstances of the accident and who may be responsible. Due to ongoing proceedings, authorities are not providing detailed information at this time.
