Polish Border Guard dismantles a professional methedrone laboratory in Warsaw, seizing 18kg of the drug worth 1.5 million zł and detaining two Ukrainian nationals.
Major Drug Laboratory Dismantled
Border Guard officers from the Nadwiślański Border Guard Unit dismantled a professional synthetic drugs laboratory operating on one of the capital’s properties. During the operation, they secured nearly 18 kilograms of high-quality methedrone with a street value of approximately 1.5 million Polish zlotys, as well as several hundred liters of chemical components used in its production. Two Ukrainian citizens were caught red-handed.
International Operation Led to Discovery
The discovery of the illegal factory was the result of intensive operational work by NwOSG officers. International cooperation was key to the investigation — through the use of Europol channels and ongoing information exchange with the Ukrainian anti-drug police. This allowed Border Guard officers to locate a single-family house adapted as a laboratory.
Seizure Includes Various Forms of Methedrone
Upon entering the specified address, officers found a fully equipped drug production line. Inside, they managed to secure both finished methedrone in liquid, crystalline, and powdered forms, as well as in the final stages of production during the ongoing process of manufacturing further batches. In total, nearly 18 kg of high-quality synthetic substance was secured — along with several hundred liters of reagents and chemical precursors.
Drugs Destined for Polish and Ukrainian Markets
It is estimated that as a result of the operation, criminals were deprived of a million-dollar profit from illegal activities, as the value of the drugs ready for the market amounted to 1.5 million Polish zlotys, and additional potential profits would come from the substances still in production. According to investigators’ findings, the synthetic drugs were destined for the domestic market and Ukraine.
Two Ukrainian Nationals Charged
At the scene, two so-called ‘chemists’ — Ukrainian citizens aged 26 and 32, holding German residence permits — were detained. Both were taken to the Regional Prosecutor’s Office Warsaw Praga-Południe, where they were charged with producing significant quantities of psychotropic substances. At the request of the prosecution, the court applied temporary detention for the suspects for a period of three months.
