The District Prosecutor’s Office in Leszno is investigating the crash of a TECAN aircraft that occurred on Monday, August 25, in Krzycko Wielkie, Greater Poland. According to eyewitnesses, the plane was flying at a low altitude, performing maneuvers resembling acrobatics, before suddenly descending toward the ground and crashing. The 37-year-old pilot and 20-year-old passenger died immediately at the scene, as stated by Łukasz Wawrzyniak, a spokesperson for the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań.
Pilot Was Flying Recreational, Passenger Had a Flight Voucher
Prosecutors confirmed the pilot held a valid license and was flying as a hobby. The passenger, meanwhile, had a flight voucher for the journey. Preliminary findings indicate the flight route was Poznań–Leszno–Poznań. Investigators, including the State Commission for Aircraft Accident Inquiry, have already conducted the scene examination. Wawrzyniak emphasized that the commission’s findings and subsequent analysis of evidence will determine the crash’s cause and sequence of events.
Plane Crashed on Private Property and Caught Fire
Media reports state that the aircraft crashed onto a private estate and ignited. Lucyna Rudzińska, a spokesperson for the Provincial Fire Service Headquarters in Poznań, confirmed the plane was scheduled to take off from Poznań–Ławica Airport. She also verified that the aircraft caught fire after impact.
