President Trump announces US military operations in Iran to eliminate threats and prevent the regime from obtaining nuclear weapons.
US Military Operations Begin in Iran
On Saturday morning, US time, the United States military began major combat operations in Iran. “Our goal is to defend the American nation by eliminating direct threats from the Iranian regime,” said Donald Trump.
Iran’s History of Terrorism Against the US
For 47 years, the Iranian regime has chanted “Death to America” and waged an endless campaign of bloodshed and mass murders aimed at the United States, our military, and innocent people in many countries. The regime’s first act was supporting the brutal takeover of the US embassy in Tehran and holding dozens American hostages for 444 days.
In 1983, Iranian officials conducted a bomb attack on the Marine barracks in Beirut, killing 241 American soldiers. In 2000, they knew about the attack on the USS Cole and were likely involved. Iranian forces killed and maimed hundreds of American soldiers in Iraq. In recent years, regime representatives have conducted countless attacks on US forces stationed in the Middle East, as well as US warships and commercial ships in international waters.
The Nuclear Threat
It has always been the policy of the United States, especially my administration, for this terrorist regime to never possess nuclear weapons. I will say it again. They can never possess nuclear weapons.
Therefore, as part of Operation Midnight Hammer in June of last year, we destroyed the regime’s nuclear program in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. After this attack, we warned them never to resume their sinister pursuits of acquiring nuclear weapons.
US Military Objectives
Iran refused, as it has done for decades. They rejected every opportunity to pursue their nuclear ambitions, and we can no longer tolerate this. Instead, they attempted to rebuild their nuclear program and continue work on long-range missiles that can now threaten our good friends and allies in Europe, our soldiers stationed abroad, and soon could also reach US territory.
For these reasons, the United States military has undertaken a broad-scale operation to prevent the threat to America and our core national security interests by this very vicious, radical dictatorship. We will destroy their missiles and level their rocket industry. It will be completely destroyed. We will destroy their navy.
Call to Iranian Forces
To the members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, the military, and all police, I say tonight that you must lay down your arms and get total immunity, or otherwise certain death awaits you.
Lay down your arms. You will be treated fairly and receive total immunity or certain death awaits you.
Appeal to the Iranian People
Finally, to the great, proud nation of Iran, I say tonight that the hour of your freedom is near. Stay in shelters. Do not leave your homes. Outside is very dangerous. Bombs will be falling everywhere.
When we are finished, take over power in your country. It will be yours, it will probably be your only chance to get power. For many years you have asked America for help, but you never received it. No president was willing to do what I intend to do tonight.
Now you have a president who gives you what you want. So let’s see how you react. America supports you with overwhelming force and destructive power. The time has come to take control of your destiny and unleash a prosperous and glorious future that is within reach.
