Fire in electric Smart’s heated driver seat; five fire brigades respond

Firefighters responded to a fire in an electric Smart’s heated driver seat at a Warsaw garage on February 23, 2026.

Incident Details

On Monday, February 23, 2026, at 16:11, firefighters intervened at Wóycickiego Street on Bielany after a report of smoke and smell of burning from an electric Smart car located in a car workshop area.

The information about smoke coming from the vehicle came from the workshop owner. The car was initially parked in a metal garage, but was moved outside before emergency services arrived.

Investigation Findings

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters confirmed charring of the driver’s seat upholstery. Approximately 10 centimeters of material was damaged.

Preliminary findings indicated that a short circuit in the electrical installation may have caused the smell of burning and the charring of the seat.

Emergency Response

A total of five fire brigades and police were dispatched to the scene. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, and material losses were described as minor.
