A violent, intoxicated man armed with a hammer attacked police officers in Pruszków, leading to the use of a service weapon. The suspect was shot in the leg, subdued, and hospitalized.
Emergency Response
At 17:24, the Pruszków police received an urgent report from the man’s sister about his aggressive behavior, including pounding on the doors of a house. Subsequent family reports indicated the man was growing more agitated, wielding an axe, and involved in a domestic dispute. Due to the urgency, officers swiftly arrived at the address.
Attack on Officers
Upon arrival, the man charged at a police officer, raising the axe he held. The officer fired a warning shot into the air and ordered him to drop the weapon. Despite the commands, the man continued advancing toward the officer with the axe.
Use of Lethal Force
The officer fired two additional warning shots, which failed to stop the attack. In response to an imminent threat to life and safety, the officer used his service weapon, aiming at the suspect’s leg. After taking several steps, the man dropped the axe, was subdued, and arrested.
Medical Assistance and Arrest
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene. The man received treatment and was transported to the hospital by police. Criminal proceedings are ongoing.
