Polish police have detained a 27-year-old woman in connection with a December murder of a 71-year-old man in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
Murder in Czech Republic
The case involves a murder committed in December last year of a 71-year-old man in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Local authorities determined that a 33-year-old Polish citizen was connected to the incident. A European Arrest Warrant was issued for him. “Police officers from the Silesian garrison located and detained the 33-year-old in the Łódzkie Voivodeship,” said Mariusz Kowalski, a staff sergeant from the Łęczyca District Police Headquarters.
Polish Woman Detained
Police later determined that the woman’s former partner assisted in the murder. Officers from the criminal department of the Złoczewi command were therefore involved in the operation. They achieved results on February 26 when they went to a designated property in the Wieruszów County. “There, with the support of local police, they located and detained a 27-year-old woman,” said Aspirant szt. Kowalski on Wednesday. The woman was taken to police custody.
Charges Filed
The following day, the 27-year-old was brought before the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Łęczyca, where she was charged with murder. The court approved the application of a preventive measure in the form of temporary detention for a period of three months. The woman faces a possible life sentence.
