Trump claims Putin is ready for peace deal, says Zelensky must negotiate and “get to work” to end the war.
Trump’s Assessment of Putin
Donald Trump stated that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin might agree to a peace agreement that would end the war in Ukraine. “I think Putin is ready to make a deal,” Trump said on Thursday, March 5, in an interview with Politico.
Criticism of Zelensky
Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, stating he is not showing sufficient will to reach an agreement to end the war. “It’s unthinkable that he would be an obstacle. Zelensky must get to work and make a deal,” Trump said. He also suggested that Zelensky lacks a strong negotiating position to push through his demands, stating, “He has no cards. He has even fewer now.”
Ukraine’s Partners Seek Iran Drone Help
Zelensky mentioned that Ukraine’s partners are asking for help in defense against Iranian Shahed drones, requesting “expert knowledge and real operational experience.” He noted that Americans were among those making such requests.
As reported by Financial Times, the United States and at least one Gulf country are conducting talks about purchasing Ukrainian drones designed to shoot down Iranian Shaheds.
Ukraine Offers Drone Expertise
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha stated on Monday that his country is ready to send drone specialists to the Middle East and share its capabilities to help shoot down Iranian drones. He said this could happen if Kyiv’s partners help achieve a ceasefire in the war with Russia.
