Man Killed After Being Struck by Tram in Warsaw

A 36-year-old man died in hospital after being struck by a tram in Warsaw on March 6.

Accident Details

A 36-year-old man who was hit by a tram on March 6 at the intersection of Dolna and Sobieskiego streets in Warsaw died in the hospital. The accident occurred at around 4:30 PM when a pedestrian was on the crossing during the passage of tram line 19 heading towards Wilanów.

Preliminary findings indicate that the man was crossing the pedestrian crossing at a red light. At that moment, he was hit by an approaching tram.

After being hit, the 36-year-old ended up between the tram and the concrete edges of the track. According to findings from the scene, he was dragged about 20 meters.

Emergency Response

Fire services, tram services, a medical rescue team and police were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters participated in extricating the injured person, who was trapped between the tram and the track curbs. The man was then handed over to paramedics.

Victim’s Condition and Death

The victim was unconscious and in critical condition. After receiving on-site assistance, he was taken to the hospital. Despite the efforts of doctors, the 36-year-old died.
