Two Russian nationals suspected of murder detained on A2 motorway [VIDEO]

Two Russian citizens, wanted by a European Arrest Warrant for a murder in Belgium, were detained on the A2 motorway following coordinated police operations.

Detention on A2 Motorway

Police detained two Russian nationals, aged 33 and 45, suspected of murder in Belgium, on the A2 motorway in the Łowicz County. The arrest resulted from coordinated, dynamic, and efficient pursuit and blockade operations.

International Cooperation and Tracking

On August 26, 2025, the International Police Cooperation Bureau (KGP) received intelligence about the possible movement of the suspects from an officer serving as a liaison with Europol. The Criminal Police Bureau (KGP) was notified, identifying the location of the two men. The suspects, wanted by the European Arrest Warrant for a murder in Belgium, were believed to be traveling on the A2 motorway through Łódź Voivodeship toward Warsaw. Immediate actions were taken to apprehend them, with the Łódź Voivodeship Police Headquarters managing all units and organizing a blockade point after notifying all subordinate counties.

Operational Details

The vehicle was moving at high speed toward Warsaw. Patrols monitored it from a safe distance while updating the headquarters on its real-time location. Additional patrols from local units joined the operation to ensure full control over the situation, which was critical to its success. Around 9:15 PM, a blockade point was established near the Skierniewice interchange (398 km) on the A2 motorway. The operation was meticulously planned to ensure a secure arrest and protect bystanders, with traffic redirected to National Road No. 70. Motorway traffic was halted during the detention, which involved a dozen patrol cars from the Łowicz, Skierniewice, Brzeziny, and Zgierz Police Headquarters.

The court will now determine when the suspects will be handed over to Belgian authorities. The arrest was made possible through strict international cooperation and effective coordination of participating units.
