Suspect in Fatal Motorcycle Accident Detained After Crossing Border

A 36-year-old man was arrested for allegedly causing a fatal motorcycle accident and fleeing the scene in Wołomin County.

Joint operations by the Capital City Police Department’s Vehicle Crime Unit, Wołomin County Police, and the Border Guard in Ruda Śląska led to the detention of a 36-year-old man suspected of causing a fatal accident with a motorcyclist in Kozły (near Karolew), Wołomin County. The Wołomin District Court ordered his temporary detention for three months.

February Accident Details

The incident occurred on Saturday, February 28, in Kozły (near Karolew), Tłuszcz municipality. A Toyota driver performing a turning maneuver forced right of way on a properly riding motorcyclist. The 25-year-old motorcyclist died from injuries sustained, while the car driver fled without providing assistance.

Investigation and Apprehension

Police conducted detailed on-site inspections and secured evidence. After analyzing information, officers identified the suspect and tracked him to the state border, where he was arrested shortly after crossing. Based on collected evidence, the 36-year-old was formally charged with causing a fatal traffic accident and failing to assist the victim.

Legal Consequences

The suspect faces up to 20 years in imprisonment for the crimes committed. The Wołomin County Police Headquarters is leading the investigation.
