Spanish Passenger Opens Aircraft Door, Slides Down Emergency Chute During Taxiing

Spanish passenger forcibly removed from Tenerife-Warsaw flight after opening emergency door and sliding down evacuation slide during taxiing.

Aggressive Behavior During Flight

A 27-year-old Spanish passenger exhibited aggressive behavior throughout the flight from Tenerife to Warsaw on March 12, 2026. He refused to follow the captain’s orders, refused to take his seat, and acted aggressively toward crew members and other passengers. At one point, he struck a crew member multiple times.

Emergency Incident on Tarmac

After landing and while taxiing to the parking position, the passenger pushed crew members and opened the aircraft door. He then slid down the emergency evacuation slide onto the airport tarmac. Special Intervention Group officers from the Warsaw-Okęcie Border Guard Post quickly apprehended the man.

Police Intervention and Arrest

Due to the passenger’s extremely aggressive behavior and clear signs of over-excitement, officers used direct coercion measures. Physical force including restraining and transport techniques and handcuffs were used during the intervention. The passenger was transported to the airport infirmary for medical examination before being arrested.

Legal Consequences

The passenger was arrested for committing an act threatening aviation safety under Article 211(1)(7) of the Aviation Act. An investigation was initiated against him. Additionally, the commander of the Warsaw-Okęcie Border Guard Post issued a decision to expel the Spanish citizen from Poland due to reasons of national defense or security. A court decision placed him in a guarded center for foreigners for 3 months.
