“Kobra” Unit Recovers Two Stolen Toyota Rav4s Legalized with Forged Documents

Police “Kobra” unit recovered two stolen Toyota Rav4s within four days that had been legalized using forged Spanish documents.

Operation Details

Police from the “Kobra” unit found and secured two Toyota Rav4s within 4 days. Both vehicles were stolen, sought by commands in Katowice and Elbląg, and legalized using forged Spanish documents.

This operation came after officers identified who was likely using the first Toyota Rav4, which had been stolen and then legalized in Poland using forged Spanish documents.

Investigation and Recovery

Working with officers from the Border Guard facility in Terespol who specialized in examining vehicle identification markings, the operational team planned their actions. After observation, they stopped a Toyota for inspection, confirming it had clear signs of interference in numeric fields and was a car stolen and sought by the Katowice police.

Second Vehicle Discovery

In the first vehicle, police found and secured a key to another Toyota. After locating the second car, they continued their operations. The secured key opened the vehicle, which also showed signs of interference in its VIN number. This second vehicle was also stolen, legalized using forged Spanish documents, and registered as sought by the Elbląg Police.

Aftermath

Both Toyotas have been secured, and officers from the Department to Combat Vehicle Crime continue their investigations to clarify the exact circumstances of the vehicles’ legalization. The recovered vehicles will be returned to their owners.
