Poland’s Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski condemned the violent attack on former Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski, urging strict punishment for those inciting tribal emotions and rationalizing hatred, especially against public officials.
Radosław Sikorski: Violence Against Public Officials Must Be Severely Punished
Radosław Sikorski stated on X, “I warned that inciting tribal emotions would lead to violence. It must be severely punished, particularly against public officials, regardless of their political affiliations.” He expressed hope that President Karol Nawrocki would not pardon individuals like Andrzej Duda who promote irrational hatred.
Beating of Adam Niedzielski
Adam Niedzielski, a former PiS Minister of Health, was attacked in Siedlce on Wednesday afternoon and hospitalized. Police arrested the perpetrators the same day. Niedzielski described the incident on social media: “Two men shouted ‘death to traitors of the fatherland,’ struck me in the face, and then kicked me while I lay on the ground. It lasted about twenty seconds, after which the attackers fled.” He added, “I am bruised and sore, but I want to reassure you that no internal injuries were found. I would like to thank the doctors at Siedlce Voivodeship Hospital for their support and care.”
Sikorski Recalls July Video. On Braun: “Scoundrel”
Radosław Sikorski referenced a July X post in which he criticized slurs directed at artists at the Zamość Eurofolk Festival. “This is not an isolated case,” he said, noting that in Jedwabne, stones near a memorial to murdered Jews bore false claims about the “occupied Poland” era: “They enjoyed autonomy” and “lived in symbiosis with the Germans.” He also condemned Grzegorz Braun’s statement, in which Braun claimed to Radio Wnet that “gas chambers were fake.” “Captain Pilecki did not volunteer for Auschwitz to have a scoundrel now undermine his report for political gain,” Sikorski said. The vice-premier stressed there is no tolerance for the growing racism and antisemitism fueling such campaigns.
