Warsaw Fire Claims Four Lives on Ursynów District

A fire erupted in Warsaw’s Ursynów district, originating in a delivery vehicle and spreading to a nearby building, resulting in four fatalities.

Initial Reports and Fire Department Response

Initial reports from emergency services indicated the fire began in a vehicle before spreading to an adjacent building. The Warsaw City State Fire Service was dispatched to a van fire on Migdałowa Street, number 4.

Captain Jan Bentkowski of the Warsaw City State Fire Service stated that the fire encompassed a room adjacent to the van.

Witness Accounts and Possible Explosions

The vehicle was parked next to a shooting range undergoing renovation. TVP.info reported that witnesses heard three explosions.

However, Fire Brigade Officer Artur Gonera stated they had no knowledge of any explosions, noting that various reactions can occur during a fire.

Casualties and Investigation

Six people were inside the premises; four died. Warsaw’s Wyborcza.pl confirmed the victims were workers involved in the renovation, a detail corroborated by the fire service and police.

Injured and Ongoing Investigation

Two individuals were hospitalized: one transported by the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service, and the other by ambulance. Police will investigate the cause of the fire.

One of the injured is in critical condition.
