U.S. Ambassador Praises Poland as an Ideal Ally
U.S. Ambassador Thomas Rose stated that American AH-64 Apache attack helicopters will be repaired and serviced in Poland under a new agreement, with some work and technology transferred to Polish entities as an offset. Poland purchased 96 of these helicopters from the U.S. in August 2024 for $10.8 billion.
Rose began his speech by noting, “We in the States have a tough negotiator Donald. You in Poland also have Donald. A tough guy.” He further emphasized Poland’s crucial role in deterring threats, stating that former President Trump has consistently praised Poland’s commitment to defense, unlike other allies.
Poland as a European Model
The Ambassador described Poland as an “ideal ally” to the United States, emphasizing mutual defense and partnership. He lauded Poland as a “new great power in Europe,” suggesting it serve as a model for other European nations.
Apache Helicopters Expected in 2028
According to Defense24.pl, the first new helicopters are expected to arrive in Poland in 2028. The Polish Armed Forces currently operates eight helicopters primarily for training purposes.
Tusk Affirms Poland’s Loyal but Demanding Partnership
Prime Minister Donald Tusk affirmed Poland’s position as a loyal yet assertive partner, stating that Poland is capable of fighting for its interests with dignity. He made these remarks during a ceremony finalizing offset agreements between WZL nr 1 and Lockheed Martin.
Emphasis on Mutual Interest and Security
Tusk stressed that genuine alliances are built on truth and mutual benefit, prioritizing the security of Polish citizens. He cited the Polska Zbrojna project and the SAFE EU loan as evidence of this commitment, enabling the reallocation of funds to support cooperation with U.S. allies.
