Polish Official Clashes with TVN24 Journalist Over Putin Remarks

During a Polish-Hungarian Friendship Day event, Polish official Karol Nawrocki sharply rebuked a TVN24 reporter questioning his stance on Viktor Orbán’s relationship with Vladimir Putin.

Nawrocki on Polish-Hungarian Relations

Karol Nawrocki emphasized strong Polish-Hungarian ties, stating that Poles love Hungarians and condemn Vladimir Putin as a war criminal. He met with Hungarian President Tamás Sulyok in Przemyśl to mark Polish-Hungarian Friendship Day.

Nawrocki acknowledged disagreements exist between the two nations, but asserted that common ground significantly outweighs points of contention. He affirmed his friendship with Hungary and President Sulyok.

Confrontation with TVN24 Reporter

During a press conference, TVN24’s Mateusz Półchłopek questioned Nawrocki about Viktor Orbán’s closeness to Vladimir Putin. Nawrocki initially stepped away with the Hungarian president before addressing the reporter.

Nawrocki challenged the reporter, asking if he had listened to the press conference or Nawrocki’s views on Putin. He demanded the reporter “get his act together and listen” to the Polish president, reiterating his condemnation of Putin as a war criminal.

Russia’s Search Warrant for Nawrocki

Karol Nawrocki is on Russia’s wanted list for ordering the dismantling of Red Army monuments while head of the Institute of National Remembrance (2021-2025).

Russian authorities are also seeking former Deputy Minister of State Assets Karol Rabenda and Piotr Hofmański, former head of the International Criminal Court.

Upcoming Meeting with Orbán and Participation in Right-Wing Coalition Event

Karol Nawrocki is scheduled to meet with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Budapest. This coincides with a “Great Assembly” of the “Patriots for Europe” coalition, a gathering of right-wing and Eurosceptic parties.

Attendees include Marine Le Pen of France’s National Rally and Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, both known for past pro-Kremlin sympathies. Polish MP Krzysztof Bosak is also participating.
