Poland Scrambles Fighters as Russia Attacks Ukraine

Poland activated its air defense systems, including fighter jets and early warning aircraft, following a Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia and Poltava Oblast overnight.

Russian Attack on Zaporizhzhia and Poltava Oblast

Russia attacked Zaporizhzhia and Poltava Oblast overnight, resulting in three deaths and 14 injuries. An air alert was issued across all regions of Ukraine after 4 a.m.

According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia military administration, one person was killed and three were injured in a powerful, coordinated attack using drones and missiles.

Polish Air Defense Activation

In accordance with standard procedures, the Polish Operational Command launched necessary forces and assets. A duty fighter pair and early warning aircraft were scrambled, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems reached full readiness.

These actions are preventative, aimed at securing and protecting Polish airspace, particularly in areas adjacent to threatened zones. The Polish Operational Command stated it is monitoring the situation and forces remain ready for immediate response.

Damage Reports

In Zaporizhzhia, six apartment buildings, two private homes, a store, non-residential buildings, and an industrial infrastructure facility were damaged.

In Poltava Oblast, residential buildings and a hotel were damaged. Vitaliy Dzhakiwnych, head of the Poltava regional military administration, reported two deaths and 11 injuries.

Orbán’s Shifting Opposition

Four years ago, Viktor Orbán’s opponents were George Soros and migrants; today, they are reportedly Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whom he accuses of escalating the war, and Brussels, which he claims is limiting Hungarian sovereignty.
