A debate between Mateusz Morawiecki and Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz will be held on Wednesday, April 1st, focusing on defense, regional stability, and agricultural policy.
Debate Details and Focus
The debate between Mateusz Morawiecki and Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz will begin on Wednesday, April 1st, at 11:15 AM. The discussion will center on defense issues, regional stability, and the role of agriculture during geopolitical crises.
According to the Polish People’s Party (PSL), the debate will feature “strong questions, hard facts, and zero evasions,” with a primary focus on the security, agriculture, and the well-being of Polish citizens.
Agricultural Competitiveness and Forum
The first day of the event will also include a discussion on the competitiveness of the Polish food processing industry. Former Ministers of Agriculture and Rural Development, Czesław Siekierski and Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, along with Mirosław Maliszewski, will participate.
SAFE 0% Funding Dispute
The debate takes place amidst tensions surrounding the “Polish SAFE 0%” initiative, a proposed alternative to the EU program, and President Karol Nawrocki’s veto. The PSL has prepared a draft law to address the funding of defense, which was submitted to the Sejm on March 24th.
The PSL’s proposal aims to utilize profits from the National Bank of Poland for broader security measures, addressing perceived flaws in the President’s original plan. However, the Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, has indicated the Sejm may not consider the “Polish SAFE 0%” project due to procedural issues.
PSL’s Position and Expectations
Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that the PSL’s proposal addresses the shortcomings of the President’s project and extends an invitation to all parliamentary groups to collaborate on allocating these funds. He expects the law to be processed after the Easter holidays.
The meeting between Kosiniak-Kamysz and Morawiecki is seen as a key arena for contrasting visions on financing national security.
European Agricultural Forum in Jasionka
The European Agricultural Forum in Jasionka will focus on modern technologies in crop cultivation, national security, and the energy transformation of rural areas. The second day will address generational exchange in rural areas and new business models created by young farmers.
The event, organized by the European Fund for Rural Development of Poland since 2018, provides a platform for discussing key issues facing the agricultural sector.
