The fire erupted on Wednesday afternoon in Dawidy, Pruszków County, bordering Warsaw. Local media reports indicate the blaze consumed wasteland, fields, and abandoned waste, generating thick smoke visible from a considerable distance, including the area around Chopin Airport.
The fire department received the report shortly after 3:15 PM. According to Fire Captain Michał Składanowski, cited by Radio Kolor, the fire was rapidly developing, and additional firefighting forces were deployed to the scene.
Nearly Three Hectares Affected
The fire spread across an area of nearly three hectares. Firefighters are battling the blaze in challenging terrain characterized by wasteland and accumulated waste, which facilitates the rapid spread of fire.
Initially, seven fire crews were dispatched, but the number of units responding to the incident increased. Media reports indicate approximately 15 crews from Warsaw and Pruszków County are now working at the location.
Smoke Visible Throughout Warsaw
The fire has drawn attention due to its location. According to Miejski Reporter, smoke plumes are clearly visible from many points within the Warsaw agglomeration and from outbound routes.
This visibility sparked interest among residents and drivers in the region. As of now, there are no reports of injuries. The fire department is investigating the cause of the fire, and firefighting efforts are ongoing.
