Border guards arrested two couriers transporting three migrants near Szczecin, with one migrant escaping toward Germany.
Arrest of Traffickers
On Saturday, August 30th, the Border Guard informed that officers in Szczecin had arrested two couriers transporting three migrants in the area of Buk, western Pomeranian Voivodeship. “During the conducted drug control, two foreigners fled in the direction of Germany. The third, an Afghan citizen, was apprehended,” the statement read. Additional border patrol and police units were dispatched to the scene, while the German side was also notified. A 56-year-old Pole and a 54-year-old Belarusian were taken to the Border Guard’s post in Szczecin.
15 Ukrainians Deported
On the same day, the Border Guard also reported that 15 Ukrainian citizens were expelled from Poland. They had been repeatedly convicted of crimes and offenses. As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, the foreign nationals posed a threat to security and public order in Poland. Since the beginning of the year, 1,100 foreigners have been forcibly expelled from the country. “There is no consent for violating Polish law (…) We act in the interests of the safety of Polish women and men,” the communication from the Ministry assured. The Ukrainians were forcibly escorted to the border by the Border Guard and handed over to the Ukrainian side. They had been convicted of crimes including possession of narcotics, theft, robbery, forgery, driving under the influence of alcohol, and organizing illegal crossing of the Polish border. In one case, a foreigner was on a list of people whose presence in Poland is considered unwanted.
