Car Collides with Bus in Marki, Eight Injured

A car ran a red light and collided with a city bus in Marki, Poland on April 3rd, causing the bus to overturn and injuring eight passengers.

Accident Details

On April 3rd, a serious accident occurred at the intersection of Piłsudski Avenue and Bandurskiego Street in Marki, involving a city bus and a passenger car. The bus overturned following the collision, resulting in injuries to eight people traveling on public transport.

Emergency services received a report of the incident at 4:27 PM. According to Junior Warrant Officer Jakub Filipiak of the Warsaw Police Headquarters press office, the collision occurred when a car struck the bus, causing it to tip over. All eight injured individuals were passengers on the bus.

Location and Response

The accident took place near the intersection of Piłsudski Avenue, Bandurskiego Street, and Lisa-Kuli Street. The Mayor of Marki, Jacek Orych, noted the location as a critical point in the city. Rescue and emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Seven fire departments, including the Provincial Operational Group from Warsaw, were involved in the response. The area was secured, and rescuers provided assistance to the injured and worked to clear the accident site.

Preliminary Findings

Initial investigations suggest the driver of the BMW was traveling at a high speed from Radzymin and entered the intersection with Bandurskiego Street on a red light. The car struck the side of bus line L-44, which was turning onto Bandurskiego Street from Warsaw. The force of the impact caused the bus to overturn.

According to reports from the scene, an elderly woman was the most seriously injured, having been ejected from the bus onto the roadway during the collision. The BMW driver is currently in police custody.

Traffic Disruption

The accident caused significant traffic disruptions. Piłsudski Avenue towards Warsaw and the passage from Lisa-Kuli Street to Bandurskiego Street were completely blocked. Traffic on Piłsudski Avenue towards Radzymin was heavily congested.
