An unexploded projectile dating back to World War II was discovered at a construction site in central Warsaw on Tuesday, April 7th, causing street closures.
Discovery and Initial Assessment
On Tuesday, April 7th, around 9:30 AM, a potentially dangerous object was found at a construction site at the intersection of Sienkiewicza and Jasna streets in central Warsaw.
Police, called to the scene, assessed the item as a projectile from the period of World War II.
Security Measures and Road Closures
The area was cordoned off and secured due to the threat. Police closed Sienkiewicza Street and Jasna Street from Świętokrzyska Street to traffic.
Officers remain on site, guarding the secured area.
Awaiting Bomb Disposal Unit
A bomb disposal unit was called to remove the unexploded ordnance. As of 11:00 AM, they were still en route.
Until the projectile is removed, the area will remain secured by police, and the street closures will remain in effect. Workers and residents of nearby buildings may be evacuated during the removal process.
Traffic Disruption
The disruptions are occurring in the city center, an area heavily frequented by both pedestrians and drivers. Further actions will depend on the arrival of the bomb disposal team and the safe removal of the object.
