The Civic Coalition’s National Council convened in Warsaw on Saturday, barring most journalists from the meeting hall.
Meeting Restrictions
The meeting is taking place at the Ursynow Culture Center “Alternatywy.” Journalists were not allowed into the hall where several hundred members of the National Council had gathered, with only photojournalists granted access.
The party is handling the event’s transmission itself, citing the small size of the room as the reason for limiting press access, a practice not previously employed by the Civic Coalition.
Prime Minister Tusk Addresses the Council
The session began with the Polish national anthem, followed by a speech from Prime Minister Donald Tusk. He described the moment as “historic,” emphasizing the significance of the current turning point in Poland, Europe, and the world, with both positive and negative consequences.
Focus on Upcoming Elections
Sources within the Civic Coalition indicate that winning the upcoming parliamentary elections is a key priority for the party.
Leadership Stability Expected
There is little expectation of change in the Civic Coalition’s leadership. Marcin Kierwiński, the current Minister of Interior and Administration, is likely to remain as Secretary General, despite earlier speculation about a potential replacement.
