Magyar’s Tisza Party Wins Hungarian Election, Announces Warsaw Visit

Peter Magyar’s Tisza party secured a landslide victory in Hungary’s parliamentary elections, with Magyar pledging his first foreign trip to Poland.

Magyar Declares Victory and Mandate

Peter Magyar announced on Sunday night that his party received a mandate to “build a functional and working home for all of us” following the Hungarian elections. Preliminary results, based on 95% of votes counted, give the opposition Tisza party 138 seats in the 199-seat parliament.

Magyar proclaimed that no other party had received such a strong mandate, stating, “We have regained our country, we have liberated it.” He asserted that Tisza not only won but will achieve a two-thirds constitutional majority, enabling a “smooth and peaceful transformation.”

Orbán’s Fidesz-KDNP Suffers Defeat

The Tisza party secured 138 seats in the 199-seat Hungarian parliament, according to the latest voting results. The ruling Fidesz-KDNP coalition, led by Viktor Orbán, obtained 54 seats. The far-right Mi Hazak party is also projected to enter parliament with seven seats.

First Foreign Trip to Warsaw

Magyar announced his first foreign visit will be to Warsaw, aiming to “rebuild the thousand-year-old Polish-Hungarian friendship.” He also intends to visit Vienna and Brussels to secure EU funds due to Hungary.

Calls for Resignations and Shift in Foreign Policy

Magyar called on the president and heads of public institutions appointed by the Orbán-led parliament to resign voluntarily, warning that they would be dismissed otherwise, declaring “This regime is over.”

He emphasized that Hungary will “again be a strong and reliable ally of the European Union and NATO.”

Orbán’s Congratulations and Appeal to Diaspora

Magyar revealed that Viktor Orbán congratulated him on the election victory, stating they now share the responsibility of restoring unity to Hungary. He also appealed to Hungarians living abroad to return to their homeland.

Celebrations and Response to Protests

Magyar, holding a Hungarian flag, walked among a crowd of thousands of supporters before taking the stage. When the crowd chanted “Russians go home,” Magyar responded, “We will be a country that serves no one.”
