Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski responded to Przemysław Czarnek’s remarks on migration, referencing a visa scandal from the PiS government’s tenure.
Czarnek on Migration and Labor Needs
Przemysław Czarnek stated on April 14th that legal migration to Poland is welcome if individuals seek work or education, adding that the number of migrants depends on available jobs.
He affirmed that the governing coalition will not accept illegal migrants or forced relocation, but will not hinder businesses’ ability to hire foreign workers.
Visa Scandal Under PiS Rule
Sikorski’s statement referenced irregularities in the issuance of residence permits during the Law and Justice (PiS) government.
Prosecutors have filed charges against former officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Piotr W., the former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, accused of expediting visa procedures without justification.
Czarnek’s Criticism of Green Policies
On March 7th, Jarosław Kaczyński announced Przemysław Czarnek as PiS’s candidate for Prime Minister in a potential government following the 2027 parliamentary elections.
During a convention in Krakow, Czarnek criticized the European Union’s Emissions Trading System (ETS), the Green Deal, and renewable energy policies, stating Poland has “no OZE-sroze” (no mix of renewable energy sources).
He emphasized Poland’s reliance on its coal reserves and asserted its right to utilize its natural resources.
