Jarosław Kaczyński and Mateusz Morawiecki met to discuss the future of Morawiecki’s “Rozwój Plus” association and its impact on the PiS party.
Morawiecki Association Sparks Internal Debate
The meeting between Mateusz Morawiecki and Jarosław Kaczyński follows the former prime minister’s decision to establish the “Rozwój Plus” association. Dozens of PiS parliamentarians have reportedly signed up to join.
While members of the group claim they do not intend to leave the party, concerns have arisen that the association could lead to a split within PiS. Morawiecki denied any such rift when questioned by reporters.
Kaczyński Warns of Consequences for Association Members
Jarosław Kaczyński previously announced that politicians involved in “Rozwój Plus” would be excluded from PiS electoral lists in upcoming elections, citing a violation of the party’s statutes.
Morawiecki countered that the association’s activities are fully compliant with PiS’s statutes, pointing to previous encouragement from Kaczyński and others to form associations. He questioned the disparity, noting the existence of a similar association, “Suwerenna Polska,” within PiS.
Meeting Yields Agreement on Association’s Future
According to sources, during the meeting, Kaczyński agreed to allow the “Rozwój Plus” association to continue operating with parliamentarians as members.
In exchange, the group will join a newly formed “expert council” within PiS.
PiS Officials Confirm Agreement
Piotr Müller stated that an agreement was reached during the meeting, confirming that the association will continue to function, aiming to broaden support for PiS and explore new programmatic solutions.
Müller emphasized that the association’s purpose is to expand the PiS voter base and seek new avenues for dialogue, describing the outcome of the meeting as positive.
Adam Bielan Reports “Porozumienie” and “Wspólny Kierunek”
Adam Bielan, who accompanied Kaczyński and Morawiecki during the meeting, reported a “porozumienie” (agreement) and “wspólny kierunek” (common direction), acknowledging occasional disagreements.
