Warsaw city guards safely returned a lost white peacock to Royal Łazienki Park after it wandered onto Mokotów streets yesterday evening.
Peacock Spotted on Mokotów Streets
City guards from the 2nd Field Unit noticed the unusual bird—a white peacock—walking along Czerska Street in the Sielce district of Mokotów around 7 PM.
Initially mistaken for a swan, the guards quickly realized it was a peacock with a leg band, indicating it likely escaped from somewhere.
Safe Return to Royal Łazienki Park
Suspecting the peacock had escaped from Royal Łazienki Park, the guards decided to help it safely return, temporarily halting traffic on several Mokotów streets.
The peacock briefly flew over a fence onto the grounds of police laboratories, requiring assistance from security personnel to retrieve it.
Guiding the Peacock Through Traffic
Guards used a patrol car to clear a path along Gagarin Street while another officer walked alongside the peacock, ensuring it headed in the right direction.
The peacock was successfully guided to the park entrance at the end of Stępińska Street.
