First Abandonment at This Location

This marks the first instance of a child being left in the “window of life” at the Goleniów hospital since it was established in 2012, reported Mateusz Burdziński of TVP3 Szczecin.

The County Family Assistance Center and police were notified. The child has been placed in a children’s home for temporary care. TVP3 Szczecin reports that a woman, believed to be his mother, left the child at the safe haven.

What is a “Window of Life”?

A “window of life” is a secure location where a parent can anonymously leave a child. These locations are typically discreet and accessible 24/7, providing appropriate conditions for the infant.

When a child is placed inside, an alarm is triggered, alerting those responsible for the safe haven. Authorities are then notified according to established procedures.
