A several-year-old girl who went missing from a playground in Łódź, Poland, on Sunday afternoon was quickly located thanks to a city SOS system.
Girl Vanishes From Łódź Playground
A concerning situation unfolded in Łódź on Sunday afternoon when a young girl disappeared while playing in Parkuna Zdrowiu. The park was crowded with residents at the time.
Reports indicated the girl had vanished from the playground area.
Mother Activates SOS, Authorities Respond
The worried mother used one of the city’s SOS buttons and connected with a monitoring operator. Łódź City Guard reported an immediate response, initiating a search using cameras and dispatching a patrol from the Prevention Unit.
Additional City Guard patrols and police also joined the search.
Search Focuses on Atlas Arena Area
Information surfaced suggesting the child might be near ul. Bandurskiego, close to Atlas Arena. Officers and the mother immediately went to the location.
There, they found the girl sitting on a bench under the care of a woman who had noticed the unaccompanied child and was keeping her safe until help arrived.
Safe Return and SOS Reminder
Fortunately, the situation ended safely, with the child reunited with her mother.
How the SOS System Works
The SOS system consists of boxes placed in public areas throughout Łódź, each with a red button that connects users to the city’s monitoring operator.
26 SOS Buttons Across Łódź
City Guard stated that 26 SOS buttons are located throughout Łódź, enabling quick access to help in emergencies. They are positioned along ul. Piotrkowska, in city parks, schools, and recreational areas.
Appeal for Responsible Use
Authorities urge the public to use the SOS buttons only in justified situations, emphasizing, “It’s not a toy.”
