King Charles to Visit US, Trump Extols Relationship: “I’ve Known Him for Years”

King Charles III and Queen Camilla will visit the United States, prompting praise from former President Donald Trump who highlighted their long-standing relationship.

King Charles and Queen Camilla’s US Visit Confirmed

Former US President Donald Trump, when asked about the potential for King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s visit to improve relations, responded positively: “Absolutely. He is fantastic. He is a fantastic man. Absolutely the answer is yes. I know him well, I’ve known him for years. He’s a brave man, he’s a wonderful man. It will definitely be a positive.”

In September 2025, President Trump made a state visit to the United Kingdom, where he was received by King Charles III at Windsor Castle. During a joint banquet, Trump stated, “We are connected by history and fate, by love and language, and by transcendent bonds of culture, tradition, ancestry, and destiny. We are like two notes in one chord or like two lines of the same poem, each beautiful in itself, but truly meant to be played together. The kinship and identity between America and Great Britain is priceless and eternal.”

Unofficial Meeting and White House Ceremony Planned

Upon their arrival, the royal couple will have an informal “tea meeting” with President Trump and his wife, Melania, followed by a garden reception with guests from both the UK and the US.

According to Buckingham Palace, the visit will include an official ceremony at the White House, featuring a military review, a bilateral meeting between the King and the President, and a meeting between the Queen and the First Lady.

King Charles to Address US Congress

King Charles III is scheduled to address a joint session of the US Congress, marking only the second time a British monarch has done so in history; Queen Elizabeth II addressed Congress in 1991. Following the address, the royal couple will return to the White House for a state dinner hosted by Trump and his wife.

New York and Virginia Stops on the Itinerary

King Charles and Queen Camilla will then travel to New York City, where they will meet with first responders and families of the 9/11 victims, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the attacks. The King will also participate in an event with business leaders and investors from both sides of the Atlantic.

The final stop will be Virginia, where they will attend an outdoor event celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. They will also meet with representatives of the Appalachian indigenous peoples. The King, known for his environmental advocacy, will visit a US national park to discuss conservation efforts.

Royal Visit to Bermuda Also Scheduled

Buckingham Palace announced that following the US visit, King Charles III will make a royal visit to Bermuda from May 1st to 2nd. This will be his first visit to the British Overseas Territory since ascending the throne in 2022. The visit includes a meeting with representatives from the British Space Agency, which plans to install a new telescope on Bermuda for space debris tracking.

US-UK Relations Strained Amidst Iran Conflict

The visit coincides with a period of tension in US-UK relations. Trump reportedly blames British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for the UK’s lack of support for the US-Israeli war with Iran, and criticizes his immigration policies and the decision to halt oil and gas extraction from the North Sea.

Trump stated that relations could improve “if he opened up the North Sea and if his immigration policy became strong – which it isn’t right now – they could be fixed, but if he doesn’t do that, I don’t think he has a chance.”

When asked why he needed allies like the UK in a war with Iran, Trump responded, “I didn’t need them at all, but they should have been there. Of course, I didn’t need them. We obliterated the Iranian military. I didn’t need anybody. I just wanted to see if they would get involved,” describing his requests for support as “more of a test.”

Regarding his earlier threat that “the whole civilization will die tonight” if Iran didn’t agree to a deal, Trump said, “The other side desperately wants to make a deal. So whatever I say or do, it seems to work very well.”
