Łukasz Litewka, a 36-year-old MP from the Left party representing Sosnowiec, died after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle on Kazimierzowska Street in Dąbrowa Górnicza last Thursday afternoon. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 29th, at 1:30 PM in Sosnowiec.
Parliamentary Proceedings Postponed
Włodzimierz Czarzasty announced that all votes scheduled for the day were postponed to Tuesday to allow MPs to attend the funeral.
Tributes to a Man of Dialogue
Włodzimierz Czarzasty described Litewka as a man of dialogue, seeking consensus and always ready to act with empathy, setting aside disputes and prejudices.
Czarzasty stated they were grateful for Litewka’s hard work, selfless dedication, and assistance to those in need, praising his kindness and urging remembrance with a moment of silence.
State Funeral Arrangements
The funeral will be a state event organized by the Sejm Chancellery.
Expected Attendance of High-Ranking Officials
The Speaker of the Sejm indicated that the President and Prime Minister were expected to attend, though this was not yet final.
Posthumous Award
President Karol Nawrocki announced that MP Litewka was posthumously awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, Poland’s second-highest civilian honor, recognizing distinguished service to the state and society.

Łukasz Litewka was known for his charitable and social work. His foundation, #TeamLitewka, used social media to raise awareness and support for children’s medical treatments, animal rescue, and local community needs, including fundraising for rehabilitation equipment and aid for accident victims.
