Four Fires at Illegal Landfill in Targówek; Firefighting Lasted 7 Hours

A large fire broke out at an illegal landfill on Bardowskiego Street in Warsaw’s Targówek district late last night, requiring seven hours to extinguish.

Large Fire at Illegal Landfill

A significant fire occurred at an illegal waste dump on Bardowskiego Street in Targówek overnight. The area, owned by the district, had been used for illegal dumping of various waste materials for some time.

The fire was reported at 10:53 PM. The landfill contained a variety of waste, including flammable materials.

Multiple Ignition Points

Firefighters quickly identified four separate sources of the fire, spaced 50–100 meters apart. The fire covered an area of approximately 3000 square meters.

Extensive Firefighting Operation

Nine fire crews, including a city operational group, responded to the blaze. Numerous police patrols were also present to secure the area and ensure public safety.

Firefighting efforts extended beyond extinguishing the flames, requiring thorough damping down and cooling of the debris. Work continued until around 6:00 AM.

Investigation Launched

A fire expert will be on-site today to determine the cause of the fire, investigating whether it was arson or accidental. The four independent ignition points will be a key factor in the investigation.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Police will investigate the circumstances of the fire.
