The man suspected of causing the fatal car crash that killed Polish MP Łukasz Litewka has been released from custody after posting bail.
MP Łukasz Litewka Crash: Suspect Released
The suspect in the death of MP Łukasz Litewka was released from arrest after paying a 40,000 złoty bail, despite objections from prosecutors who sought his continued detention.
Prosecutors argued for a three-month, unconditional arrest citing the seriousness of the charges and the death of the parliamentarian, but the court opted for a less restrictive measure.
Investigation Details
The accident occurred last week in the Silesian Voivodeship. Preliminary findings indicate the driver of a Mitsubishi was responsible for the crash that resulted in MP Litewka’s death.
Investigators are focusing on determining the vehicle’s speed, the driver’s behavior prior to the accident, and any external factors that may have contributed to the incident. Evidence, including recordings and traces from the scene, has been secured.
Preventive Measures
Following his release, the suspect remains under police supervision and is prohibited from leaving the country. This requires regular check-ins with authorities and restricts international travel.
Ongoing Proceedings
The investigation, led by the Sosnowiec District Prosecutor’s Office, is ongoing. Further proceedings, including witness interviews and expert opinions, are anticipated and could be crucial for the case and any potential indictment.
