Polish FM Sikorski Receives Mixed Public Assessment After Dispute with Israeli Counterpart

Following a public disagreement with Israel’s Foreign Minister over an incident in Southern Lebanon, a poll gauged public opinion of Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski.

Sikorski-Saar Exchange Sparks Public Opinion Poll

On April 20th, a tense exchange unfolded on X between Radosław Sikorski and Gideon Saar, the Israeli Foreign Minister, stemming from an incident in Southern Lebanon involving the defacement of a Jesus figure by an Israeli soldier. This act prompted reactions from politicians and social media commentary.

Sikorski’s subsequent posts referenced military actions and prior events in the Gaza Strip, raising questions about civilian and hostage deaths, accountability, and army procedures. The discussion broadened to encompass wider international political themes. A poll was subsequently launched to assess public perception of the Polish Foreign Minister.

Poll Results: Sikorski’s Approval Rating

The poll revealed that 71.01% of respondents (899 votes) expressed a “definitely positive” assessment of Sikorski. “Rather positive” received 10.27% (130 votes).

Negative assessments comprised a smaller portion of the total, with 12.24% (155 people) selecting “definitely negative” and 4.42% (56 votes) choosing “rather negative.” Only 2.05% (26 voters) indicated they had “no opinion.” A total of 1266 people participated in the poll, with results collected on April 30, 2026.

Sikorski’s Foreign Policy Priorities

Radosław Sikorski resumed his role as Foreign Minister in December 2023, focusing on international engagement and collaboration with European partners and allies. His activities include participation in the European Union and NATO, and discussions regarding regional security.

A key focus remains support for Ukraine, with Poland’s security linked by Sikorski to the ongoing war on its eastern border, necessitating international cooperation.

Crisis Response and Citizen Support

Responding to crisis situations and supporting Polish citizens abroad is also a significant aspect of Polish foreign policy. Following the conflict in the Middle East, Polish citizens were evacuated from Israel and conflict zones, with transport and consular assistance provided.

Ongoing monitoring of unstable regions complements these efforts.
