Car Collides with Fire Engine in Pomerania, 22-Year-Old Dies

A 22-year-old driver died Saturday afternoon in Pomerania after his car collided head-on with a fire engine near Grabowo Kościerskie.

Accident Details

The accident occurred on Saturday, May 2nd, around 2:45 PM between Nowa Karczma and Grabowo Kościerskie. The Kościerzyna County Police Headquarters received a report of the traffic accident.

Collision Circumstances

Preliminary findings indicate that the driver of a Volkswagen Passat, a 22-year-old resident of Gdańsk County, veered into the opposite lane for reasons currently unknown. This resulted in a head-on collision with a Scania fire engine belonging to the OSP Grabowo Kościerskie volunteer fire department.

Passenger Condition and Rescue Complications

Two people were traveling in the passenger car. The 22-year-old driver was resuscitated but died at the scene. The passenger, a 20-year-old resident of Gdańsk County, was intended to be transported to the hospital by helicopter, but the helicopter was damaged during takeoff. The injured passenger was ultimately taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Fire Department Personnel Unharmed

The firefighters in the engine were en route to events related to Firefighter Day, which falls on May 4th, and were unharmed. Several fire crews are currently working at the scene. The detailed circumstances of the incident are being investigated under the supervision of the prosecutor.
