Photos of a Polish high school exit exam surfaced on social media Monday, prompting a possible criminal investigation.
Exam Disruption and Potential Legal Action
The Polish high school exit exam, beginning Monday with a mandatory Polish language test, was compromised when images of exam fragments appeared on social media, according to RMF FM.
The director of the Central Examination Commission (CKE) called the incident “exam dishonesty,” stating that the exam materials were confidential until 9:00 AM, when the exam began. Someone brought a device with internet access into the exam room after that time.
If the director confirms this, the exam for that individual will be invalidated. The CKE director stated that if justified suspicions of a legal violation are found, a notification will be submitted to the prosecutor’s office.
Consequences of Bringing Devices into the Exam Room
Bringing any telecommunication device into the exam room, or using such a device during the exam, results in the invalidation of the exam for that subject.
Invalidation of an exam in a mandatory subject or the only additional subject means a failing grade and ineligibility for the retake session. The student can only retake the exam the following year.
Exceptions to the Device Ban
An exception to the rule was introduced last year for telecommunication devices equipped with a mobile application used to monitor a student’s health, such as a phone with a glucose monitoring app.
Recent Exam Invalidations
In May 2025, 244 high school exit exams were invalidated, including 72 due to bringing a phone into the exam room or using it during the exam.
