Car Collides with Tram at Warsaw Intersection, Passenger Hospitalized

A Nissan passenger car collided with a tram on Puławska Street in Warsaw on Tuesday, May 5th, resulting in one passenger being transported to a hospital.

Collision Details

On Tuesday, May 5th, around 1:00 PM, a Nissan collided with tram line 4 at the intersection of Puławska Street, Lotników Avenue, and Wałbrzyska Street. The incident occurred in the Mokotów district of Warsaw.

Initial findings indicate both the car and the tram were traveling in the same direction – towards Piaseczno – and had a green light at the intersection. The car driver attempted a right turn, directly into the path of the tram.

Rescue Operation and Injuries

Emergency medical teams, firefighters, police, and public transport services were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters had to remove the car door to extricate the passenger.

The car passenger was taken to the hospital for further treatment. An elderly woman on the tram was also assisted after being thrown from her seat, but reported no serious injuries.

Traffic Disruption and Diversions

Lotników Avenue at Puławska Street and tram traffic towards the Wyścigi loop were blocked for approximately one hour during rescue and investigation efforts. Traffic resumed around 2:00 PM.

Tram lines 4 and 10, as well as bus lines 189, 193, 317, 401, and 402 were diverted due to the blockage. Lines 4 and 10 towards Wyścigi were shortened to Metro Wilanowska.

Recurring Incident

This is the latest in a series of similar collisions at this intersection.
