The Disappearance

On April 18, a 15-year-old boy left his home in the Zuidbroek district of Apeldoorn, Netherlands, on a bicycle, prompting an international search after Dutch police issued an appeal on May 1.

Investigators believed the teenager was traveling through Twente and Germany toward Poland, noting he might have transitioned to other means of transport for his journey eastward.

Discovery in Poland

On Saturday, May 9, police in Białystok located the missing boy after receiving a report regarding a person lying at a bus stop near the city.

Officers found the teenager sleeping under a blanket at the stop; although an ambulance was called to the scene, it was determined that he did not require hospitalization.

Official Confirmation

Podlaskie police confirmed the boy is the 15-year-old sought by Dutch authorities and has been placed in a care facility in Białystok, with details passed to Dutch services.

Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński confirmed the finding, describing the case, which had moved all of Europe, as having a happy ending and noting that the boy’s parents are currently en route.
