A 20-year-old woman died early Thursday morning in Turek after being struck and run over by a BMW while the 29-year-old driver was reversing the vehicle in a residential area.
Fatal Incident in Turek
The tragedy occurred around 3:00 a.m. at the Wyzwolenia housing estate in Turek, Greater Poland. Police reported that a 29-year-old local resident, while reversing his vehicle, struck and ran over a 20-year-old woman who had previously been a passenger in the car.
Emergency services, including police, firefighters, and paramedics, were dispatched to the scene. Despite resuscitation efforts, the victim could not be saved and succumbed to her severe injuries.
Police Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Authorities have secured surveillance footage from the area, which is currently being analyzed as part of the investigation. The case is being handled under Article 177 of the Penal Code, which concerns causing a fatal traffic accident.
The 29-year-old driver has been questioned and released. The charge carries a potential sentence ranging from six months to eight years in prison.
