Drunk Driver Kills Cyclist, Flees the Scene in Płock Region

A 48-year-old man driving a Volkswagen with a camping trailer struck and killed a 58-year-old cyclist in Cegielnia, Płońsk County last Friday evening before fleeing the scene.

Incident Description

The incident occurred on Friday, September 5, at approximately 8:00 PM in the town of Cegielnia. The 48-year-old Volkswagen driver, who was pulling a camping trailer, hit the 58-year-old cyclist before fleeing the crash site.

Cyclist’s Condition

The cyclist was transported to the hospital, where unfortunately, they did not survive the injuries sustained in the accident.

Suspect Detained

Witnesses to the incident apprehended the driver. Tests revealed that he had over .5% blood alcohol content. The driver was also given a blood test.

Investigation

Police officers secured the scene and documented the evidence to determine the cause and circumstances of the tragic accident.
