A young woman died after being struck by a train on the Trzciana-Rzeszów Główny line on Wednesday morning, while a separate fatal incident involving a man occurred in Włoszczowa on Tuesday.
Fatal Incident in Podkarpacie
On Wednesday, May 20, shortly after 7:00 AM, a passenger train traveling from Kraków Główny to Przemyśl struck a young woman on the tracks between Trzciana and Rzeszów Główny. Rail traffic on the route was halted, prompting the implementation of replacement bus services.
Dorota Szalacha from the PKP PLK press office confirmed the disruption, while Rzeszów police officer Magdalena Żuk stated that services and a prosecutor were on-site to investigate the circumstances of the fatality. Train traffic was resumed on one track in both directions at 11:25 AM.
Tragedy on the Central Rail Line
A separate fatal collision occurred on Tuesday, May 19, near a viaduct on Młynarska Street in Włoszczowa, where a passenger train struck a man. Weronika Grot of the Włoszczowa District Police confirmed that investigative procedures began immediately at the scene.
The incident caused a total blockage on one of the country’s primary rail arteries, leading to significant delays for passengers. Local authorities are continuing to investigate how the man accessed the tracks in a restricted area.
