Prime Minister Donald Tusk has condemned opposition accusations that a fire service intervention at Karol Nawrocki’s family home was a “brutal attack,” labeling the rhetoric as either cynical or ignorant.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed the situation on Sunday, stating that characterizing a fire department intervention—triggered by a report of a potential fire and life-threatening emergency—as an “attack on the president” represents extreme cynicism. Tusk explicitly addressed Law and Justice (PiS) politicians Przemysław Czarnek and Mateusz Morawiecki, as well as the head of the President’s Chancellery, Zbigniew Bogucki, accusing them of embarrassing themselves.
Earlier, Tusk warned against a rising wave of political speculation, noting that opposition figures and activists were spreading conspiracy theories regarding the event. He dismissed claims that the government was orchestrating fake attacks or that victims were staging provocations as illogical and harmful.
Opposition Allegations
On Saturday evening, opposition figures reacted sharply to the incident. Zbigniew Bogucki claimed that services under the current government had broken down doors based on a false alarm, calling it evidence of state failure. Former Education Minister Przemysław Czarnek suggested the move was a targeted action and demanded the Prime Minister’s resignation.
Mateusz Morawiecki echoed these sentiments, describing the event as an attack on the President and a scandal. He argued that if the government could not protect the President’s property, it could not guarantee the safety of ordinary citizens, ultimately calling for Tusk to step down.
Details of the Emergency Intervention
Deputy Interior Minister Czesław Mroczek clarified that the Emergency Notification Center received a report at 7:33 PM on Saturday regarding a fire and potential loss of life in the unit. The property, owned by Karol Nawrocki, is not under the protection of the State Protection Service (SOP) as it is not his primary residence or workplace.
The decision to enter the premises was made after a second emergency call arrived 15 minutes later, reporting cardiac arrest among children at the address. Firefighters attempted to make contact multiple times before entering via the balcony. Upon entry, authorities confirmed the apartment was empty and found no signs of fire.
Ongoing Investigation into False Alarms
National Police Commander-in-Chief Marek Boroń confirmed that investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators of the false alarm. A specialized team has been working since last week to address a series of similar, deceptive reports sent to emergency services.
Authorities emphasized that responders must react instantly when reports of life-threatening emergencies are received, regardless of potential political context. The police stated they have already identified leads and hope to provide an update on the investigation within the next several hours.
