Poland Secures Preliminary Approval for Domestic Production of Patriot Missiles

Following high-level talks in Washington, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk confirmed that the U.S. is now open to the domestic production of PAC-3 Patriot missiles within Poland.

A Breakthrough in Washington

Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk reported on Monday’s “Fakty po Faktach” that his recent meetings in the U.S., including talks with Donald Trump’s national security advisor and Deputy National Security Advisor Andrew Baker, were pivotal. Tomczyk presented a clear offer for a permanent American presence in Poland.

While American officials were initially skeptical about Poland producing PAC-3 Patriot missiles, the deputy minister stated that the situation has evolved. He expects a similar collaboration model to eventually cover HIMARS missiles, Hellfire rockets, and other munitions.

Abrams Maintenance and Military Infrastructure

The ministry has signed an agreement to establish a service center for Abrams tanks. Facilities in Poznań and Dęblin are intended to support both the Polish Armed Forces and the U.S. Army in Europe, benefiting the domestic defense industry.

This initiative follows Poland’s ongoing investments in F-35 fighters, Apache helicopters, and Patriot systems, with the government planning to expand service infrastructure to maintain all recently acquired advanced military equipment.

Arrival of the Husarz F-35 Fleet

The first three of 32 ordered F-35 “Husarz” fighter jets landed at the 32nd Tactical Air Base in Łask on May 22. This acquisition, signed in 2020 for $4.6 billion, represents the second-largest defense transaction in Polish history.

The F-35s utilize advanced stealth technology and sensor suites that integrate with ground-based systems like Patriot. By the end of 2024, Poland expects to have 14 of these fifth-generation aircraft in its inventory, with the remainder of the fleet arriving by 2029.
